Steering column 8mm thread
If you are unsure of which column size to order an easy way of checking is to look at the securing nut/bolt at the base of the column. If the nut takes a 13mm spanner then its a 8mm column
A = Length Measured from Top to base of Thread (does not include thread)
B = Distance between the fixing tangs (Bracket)
C = Lower Tang to base of thread (Does not include thread)
Size 1 = A = 420, B=22 , C=60
Size 2 = A = 425, B=32 , C=65
Size 3 = A = 475, B=20 , C=68
Size 4 = A = 480, B=30 , C=90
Size 5 = A = 490, B=22 , C=75
Size 6 = A = 495, B=22 , C=70
Size 7 = A = 495, B=35 , C=65
Size 8 = A = 550, B=22 , C=75
maccKARTING How To Handy hint
Dependant on yout kart design you may need to remove the floor tray prior to removal of the steering column.
Removal of the floor tray - this usually held on using six nuts and bolts, locate positions and determine the size of spanner/allen key required to temove bolts, remove all nuts/bolts/rubber washers and any special washers, remembering the order if fit, once all bolts are removed the floor tray will slide away from the chassis leaving the chassis exposed NOTE - CHECK FOR ANY CRACK TO WELDS OR ANY UNSERVICABLE DAMAGE
Removal of a steering column - Disconnect both tracking rods from the lower portion of the steering column, locate the lower nut at the bottom of column and determine the size of the nut, using the appropriate spanner, usually 13mm or 17mm, and remove the nut retaining any spacers and washers and remembering what order the were fited in. Now determine the size of spanners/allen keys required to undo the upper mounting position bolt, remove bolt, remembering the quantity and order the were removed in, the steering column is now ready for removal NOTE - CHECK FOR ANY CRACK TO WELDS OR ANY UNSERVICABLE DAMAGE
